24 Jun TO ALLOW A SMALL WORLD
I have reflected over the years that life has a pulse, like a breath. We can experience it as night and day, summer and winter as the most clear examples of this pulse. But it is also evident as different phases in our lives, and also in our day to day, in how we approach life. This pulse is outgoing energy, and inward going energy alternating. It is like sometimes finding yourself in social situations, like sitting in a meeting, giving a talk or going to a party etc., where you give out energy and interact with people and with the world around you. And another moment you may be alone in the office or walking the dog, having more of a introverted energy that is about integration, reflection, and processing impressions. In my experience it is here, in that intimate moment, where I allow things to expand, which later leads to decisions being made, new directions get taken and plans for the future are clarified. It is in this more quiet moment, when the world is small, that things become clearer and rejuvenation occurs.
I often get to hear that my paintings offer this very strengthening and restorative quality, where the viewer gets to enjoy the inward going energy, to let the world be small for a while, where an empowering experience provides inspiration. This makes me so very happy as this is the very energy that is the base for my paintings. I am so grateful to be able to offer this and contribute to people in this way.
